The AP English Language exam is quickly approaching; it’s
just a little over 3 weeks away

Wednesday, May 13th

To help prepare first semester students for the test, I will
hold review sessions at 7:30 AM next week. You are welcome to attend all of the
sessions, or, if you prefer, stop by my room to pick up timed writing
assignments that you can complete on your own and return to me for grading.
Review sessions are open to all first-semester students, including students who
had Mr. Widness first semester.

Monday:
Overall review of the exam.  Download the review packet above and bring it with you on
Monday.  If you don’t have time to attend
the review session Monday, download the packet and review it before the exam.

Tuesday:              No Review (I have an AP Teacher
meeting)

Wednesday       Independent Practice

Thursday             Independent Practice

Friday                   Independent Practice

Explanation of
Independent Practice
Come by my room to write a practice timed writing (all types) or a
multiple-choice test.  If you write the
essay, I will grade it and tell you your score the next day. If you do not have
time to write the paper in class, you can write it at home and bring it back
for me to grade. In order to complete the MC test, you must report early enough
(7:15) to take the full exam. (I have a new practice test that must stay inside
my classroom.)

I will probably also hold independent practice sessions in
my classroom before school during the first week of May. (I’ll send out more
information about this later.)

Beginning next week, I will also send out daily review notes
through facebook. Please spread the word that anyone who wants to receive these
daily review notes should join this group.

AP Test Bubbling Thursday

Posted in General on 14.04.09

Students who are taking AP tests will bubble their information sheets Thursday. If you are currently taking an AP course, you will report to the cafeteria (or media center) as soon as you check in with your AP teacher. Students who have multiple AP courses will only have to bubble once.

IMPORTANT – if you are not currently taking an AP course, you will need to report to the cafeteria (or media center) during one of your elective classes. Please come see me before school in order to obtain a pass. You will need to show the pass to your teacher BEFORE you report to bubble.

All bubbling sessions will last 30-40 minutes.

Thanks!

Student Comments – How Will We Remember Each Other?

Posted in General on 09.04.09

During the last week of class, I plan to give each of you a small
gift that consists of nice comments that your classmates and I have
written about you. Obviously, I need your help!

Download the file
for your class period. Write at least one kind remark about each
person in your class. What will you
remember about each person? What is the
best thing you can say? Be serious and
not sarcastic. I hope this doesn't happen, but if you select not to
write comments about other students, I will not distribute their
comments to you. Don't be a party-pooper!

Please submit your comments to Turnitin.com by Friday, May 1st.
